Arctic Snow Is Turning To Rain Rapidly

Image
Arctic Snow Is Turning To Rain Rapidly     Chelsea Harvey From E&E News  wrote an article about how the timeline for the arctic snow melting has significantly decreased. Initial studies suggested that the arctics would be rain dominated somewhere in the 2100s, with the new technology it is now anticipated to be "as early as the 2060s or 2070s if the world continues to warm at high rates between now and the end of the century." ( Harvey)  https://pxhere.com/en/photo/48858 Picture of Arctic Ice Melting      What this means and what the article is trying to provide insight in is about the rapid change in the climate and the effects that it could present. There is multiple different effects this presents on humans, One of the problems addressed in the article was how the white snow helps reflect some of the light from the sun away from the earth. If ice caps continue to decrease less heat will be reflected from the earth causing th...

The Beautiful Goose Pond

Image
The Beautiful Goose Pond     It was a  crisp fall day shortly after my last class for the week. Wanting to get outside to reset ourselves from a grueling week of classes, we went nearby to a pond to destress. The beginning of the walk was like any other, surrounded by trees and different forms of life the more you walked, the more engulfed you were by the wilderness. The sound of fall leaves crunching below your feet with every step you took it felt like almost a trance that was never ending.      As the sun starts to set below the horizon, my sense of vision was lowered and had to rely more on my other senses. At this point I was completely absorbed by the wilderness, I felt instead of being a foreigner to this land I had now become one with the land. The sounds that were made from other animals had changed from once being intimidating and startling had just become another living thing fending for themselves like myself. On the walk back that same way...

Energy Use By The Internet      The internet has been used for a long time and is increasing at crazy rates that internet companies can barely handle. This obviously is creating many problems one of them being pollution, as of 2017 out of the total emissions produced by the world 3.5% of them are from internet use. By 2040 it is predicted that over 14 percent of global emissions are going to be from internet use says John Videl who wrote " ‘Tsunami of data’ could consume one fifth of global electricity by 2025." (CHN)  This alone shows it environmental impact. This can contribute to many things including climate change which also stem off to extinction in plants, animals, rising water, lack of food, etc. Which also all have their own environmental impact. Climate change is well known as one of the main reasons of our problems on the earth and changing the planet in an unnatural way has its obvious downsides. This can have negative effects on huma...

My favorite place in nature

Image
One of my favorite places in nature is my hometown of Concord NH. The place is called Marjory Park which is a trail off of Long Pond Road in Concord. I often take my dog there for walks as it is somewhat steep and short as it gives her a good walk along with a very rewarding view at the end which is shown below. https://5rct.org/concord-marjory-swope-park/ I really like this place because it helps me get out of the condensed area that I live in and allows me to get fresh air, along with spending some time with my new dog who we got last February and is still very high energy and is a lot to handle, for myself and my family. I enjoy this place as it allows me to think on my own help me disconnect from the world around me. Which usually helps me get my mind around something that's going on as it gives me time to figure things out on my own. When on the walk it just absorbs you in nature and is just a spot to relax and decompress as there is no distractions, just the different forms ...
